Road dualization is the process of upgrading a single two-way road into a divided dual carriageway — two separated carriageways with a central median — to increase capacity and safety. On projects such as the Salam–Sargodha road, Deluxe Engineering delivered the balance works to complete exactly this kind of upgrade.
What do dualization works include?
- Earthworks & sub-grade — preparing and compacting the formation for the new carriageway.
- Sub-base & base course — laying and rolling the crushed aggregate layers that carry the load.
- Asphalt / bituminous surfacing — the running surface.
- Kerbs, medians & drainage — separating the carriageways and managing water.
- Road marking & safety furniture — lane lines, edge lines, delineators and signage.
- Street lighting — poles and luminaires along the corridor.
What does “balance works” mean?
On many public projects, a contract covers the remaining scope needed to finish a road that was partially built or delayed. These “balance works” bring the corridor to a complete, usable standard — surfacing, marking, kerb work and lighting — so it can be handed over.
Why does quality of sub-base matter so much?
A road is only as good as the layers you cannot see. Correctly graded and compacted sub-base and base course prevent rutting and premature failure — which is why compaction with rollers and careful material control are as important as the final asphalt.
Who delivers road dualization in Pakistan?
Dualization is delivered by experienced civil contractors, often for clients such as the National Logistics Cell (NLC). Deluxe Engineering completed the balance works — including surfacing, kerb painting, road marking and street lighting — for the dualization of the Salam–Sargodha road via Bhalwal Ajnala.
